11th OKC Memorial Half Marathon

This was the big one! The one we have been training for all year! What an exciting weekend! Started off  picking up Walker and Hunter, then to Whit and Codys, then to Pops (was going to do lunch there, but the wait was to long) It was a really cool place that had all kinds of pop. I haven't had pop in years, had a taste of Whits Dr. Pepper. It was sooooo good!  We all left with bottles of pop! It was a really cool place. I wouldn't mind going back when we have more time.

Made it to OKC and dropped the kids off at the Hotel while, James, Kelly and I went to the expo center to get our bibs, and to spend too much money on running things. I bought a roller for massage, and a T-Shirt for Kelly and I. Kelly bought a hat, new running belt and new socks. I was going to buy a 13.1 sticker, but James had already bought them for us! He is so sweet sometimes!

We then tried to go out to eat at   Bourbon Street Cafe, they were really, really rude. We kept trying to figure out how long the wait was going to be and she wouldn't tell us. They let us wait forever, and we are pretty sure she never planned on getting us a table. I guess there was some sort of ball tournament going on, a prom, and of course the OKC Marathon. The rudeness was really amazing though, James did most of the talking, and  I will be honest, I am impressed with the way he can keep his cool. I know I would have been yelling at some point! So after waiting forever, we walked down and ate the  pizza by the slice place. The food was really good. The service wasn't all that great there either, but at least we finally had food! Considering we were supposed to be carbo loading, and getting well hydrated, we didn't eat/drink very well!

Back to the hotel to sleep!  We cussed and discussed what to wear for the race. Looked online at weather reports. We finally decided  to wait to see what the temp was going to do in the morning.

Went out on the balcony the next morning, checked the weather online again. 10% chance of rain. Everything is a go. I went with a tech shirt, with my running jacket, winter pants. I figured I would take the jacket off and wrap it around my waist if I got to hot. Kelly was in a light jacket, cold weather shirt and shorts.

James met up with us in our room, and we rode with him to the race. We found great parking (which was what James and Kelly were worried about, as someone who never drives in those situations, I assumed they had it handled)! As we were walking to the starting area, we saw lightning! WTH?! It started raining! They delayed tthe start from 0630 to 0700! We found a place to wait out of the rain.

James was starting in (B) corral, and Kelly and I were starting in (C) corral. There were so many people in this race! According to Online race results.
Number of Finishers:7,678
Number of Females:4,761
Number of Males:2,917
It took us about 11 minutes to get across the start line alone! There was a crowd  the entire run. People stopping in front of us, people racing around us. It was crazy! The water stops were great though. They had power-aide, pretzels, and water at all of them. They were great. I was really worried about dehydration, since we had not done very well with that the day before. I grabbed some power aide first, then water to get the nasty taste out of my mouth. We used those for our walk breaks.
It was a rainy cold run. My fingers were going numb, but besides that we were doing pretty well.

I saw several men running to a tree or a bush or a side of a building to pee. I have seen that before, kinda gross, but okay, the lines were long to the porta potties. I did see one thing that shocked me!  A woman ran over to a pine tree, not hidden by any means, pulled her shorts to the side and peed standing up! I was so shocked! I have never, ever seen that before!!

We made it to the finish line cheered on by Whitley, Cody, Jared, Walker and Hunter.  They had made us signs to cheer us on!!!!

James brought us things to help warm us up! A pair of gloves for Kelly and some hand warmers and a dry rag for me. Life savers for sure. We got out of there pretty quick. After all, we had Thunder tickets!!!!!

Thunder Game

After the OKC Half Marathon we went to the hotel to shiver out of our running clothes into the shower to warm up. Left for the ball game. Had a little trouble getting through the front gate for 3 of them. We got waved on through, well except for Walker, but we ended waiting for a few minutes at the box office, but they never talked to us so we ended  up just leaving and going up to our seats. Got there just in time for the tip off. We had our shirts on, our little paper "clackers" and are having a great old time. There were some people coming up to try to get our seats, but we figured, we have tickets, so screw em!

Well, at some point Kelly left. I was too intent on the game to notice  he left with someone that worked for the Thunder! Whitley let me know what was going on. I was freaking out then. They then came and got us. Long story short. Even though we bought our tickets the morning before. The people who bought the tickets that morning, were given our seats. What was bad about the whole thing, was they were so big, they wouldn't even fit in the seats. Even though only 3 seats were in question. they kicked us all out. I hope those fatties were uncomfortable in our seats! Kelly said even when they heard that we bought our tickets first they didn't care. Jerks. Well, they only got to watch half the game and had to pay for their tickets, and didn't get the t-shirts, cause we wore them out! Everyone was shocked that they made us leave! Usually they work with you when something like this happens.
I missed the whole fight with Kelly and the lady at the ticket office. I did get to hear James arguing with a guy about it though! It was pretty heated. James kept his temper most of the time though. Favorite quote of the day was James: "Excuse me, did you just call me a prick?" Thunder guy: "Uh, well, Uh, you said it first." or something like that. James: "No, I said you treating us like crooks." Thunder guy "Well, I apologize then...)"
We then decided to give it up and leave, and Hunter had disappeared! So we had to wait for him to come back! What a mess!

We left and went to the Toby Keith's Bar and grill to eat and watch the rest of the game. It was fun. It could have been a bad experience, but Kelly was able to get a refund for the tickets, we got to watch half the game live, got free T-shirts, got to hang out at the Bar and Grill with the family. It was an amazing day all in all.

I really just love hanging out with my family. We always have so much fun together!

John Zeller Memorial 5k 4/9/2011

1 Year racing anniversery! Kelly ended up hunting this weekend, but the kids came and raced with me. Whit,Cody, Dustina, and Jake. I felt like I was doing badly, but I won 2nd in my age group! I was so excited to find that out! We met a girl named Whitley. She is friends with Millers son Jonathon. They both are fast! I was really proud. I need to remember the 3 hills at the beginning of this run! Towards the end of the race, I was walking, and an older gentleman told me to get going! I ran with him for awhile. It really helped me get to the end!

Run the Ville 10k 3/27/2011

We needed to do a 6 mile run this weekend anyway, so Kelly and I ran this race. I wish we had pictures! It was cold! We ran into Carrie Raymond. She wasn't into the race, but she did it. We ran behind  some slow ladies, which was nice. They kept our pace down. We meant to run/walk it. but we ran it instead! Great Race!

This was a tough race. I don't think I ate enough before the race, and my stomach hurt. Kelly, Whit , Cody, James and I all ran this one. It is always more fun with the family there! I of course didn't get many pictures. I have this one with Whitley! She bought me the shirt. My chip time was 31:59! After the race we went to Buffalo Wild Wings for lunch. Fun day!

I found more pictures on line!!

Nothing exciting, but I am Happy!

Last night I didn't sleep well. Kelly was gone for work in Iowa. Jared went on a "double" date with some guy from church. So with the guys gone, I don't sleep well. I had Kellys gun out though, so I could shoot someone if they tried to molest me! No one did though. I lazed around all morning, checking facebook and dailymile, basically doing nothing...it was nice.
Went to work, not busy, so I cleaned and hung out with everyone. Saw one of my favorite patients. (cant say who, it would be a HIPPA violation)         I went running. Ran a mile to warm up. Then did Yasso 800's. (makes me sound hard core) So basically I ran hard for half a mile at a time. Rested up for a few minutes, then ran hard a half mile. I want to get my speed up!   Such a pretty day for a run. There were tons of people out on Pathfinder running/walking/biking/bird watching/walking dogs ect.. The temp was about 70 degrees, so I was hot before I was done. Not ready to run in the summer heat for sure!!!
Whit called and wanted to meet up for dinner tonight, so of course I said okay! I want to spend all the time I can with my kids before they end up moving/going to college! We met up at 2 Sisters. Not sure why everyone likes it so much. I like the fried pickles, but everything else is just okay. We laughed alot. Cody made funny faces, Jared talked about his rock climbing fun with Kota, which is why he has the injury! Whit talked about watching 8 mile. Nothing too exciting now that I think about it. But I had so much fun I had to blog about it so I wouldn't forget it!
Since our food was pretty crappy we decided we deserved ice cream! So we went to Braums. More laughing. Missed Kelly, of course, but it was fun.

Home now watching the Thunder with Jared. Tied up right now. That is my whole day. Like I said, not anything to exciting, but I am happy, and want to remember it!

Feeling sorry for myself

So, today I am sore from the waist down. My hamstrings, Quads, calf muscles, and my hips hurt. I am disappointed in myself that I was not able to run the entire race without stopping. I did it in an hour, which I never thought I would be able to do. So I shouldn't be disappointed, and I know that. I am just tired of being the slowest person I know.
