This was the big one! The one we have been training for all year! What an exciting weekend! Started off picking up Walker and Hunter, then to Whit and Codys, then to Pops (was going to do lunch there, but the wait was to long) It was a really cool place that had all kinds of pop. I haven't had pop in years, had a taste of Whits Dr. Pepper. It was sooooo good! We all left with bottles of pop! It was a really cool place. I wouldn't mind going back when we have more time.
Made it to OKC and dropped the kids off at the Hotel while, James, Kelly and I went to the expo center to get our bibs, and to spend too much money on running things. I bought a roller for massage, and a T-Shirt for Kelly and I. Kelly bought a hat, new running belt and new socks. I was going to buy a 13.1 sticker, but James had already bought them for us! He is so sweet sometimes!
We then tried to go out to eat at Bourbon Street Cafe, they were really, really rude. We kept trying to figure out how long the wait was going to be and she wouldn't tell us. They let us wait forever, and we are pretty sure she never planned on getting us a table. I guess there was some sort of ball tournament going on, a prom, and of course the OKC Marathon. The rudeness was really amazing though, James did most of the talking, and I will be honest, I am impressed with the way he can keep his cool. I know I would have been yelling at some point! So after waiting forever, we walked down and ate the pizza by the slice place. The food was really good. The service wasn't all that great there either, but at least we finally had food! Considering we were supposed to be carbo loading, and getting well hydrated, we didn't eat/drink very well!
Back to the hotel to sleep! We cussed and discussed what to wear for the race. Looked online at weather reports. We finally decided to wait to see what the temp was going to do in the morning.
Went out on the balcony the next morning, checked the weather online again. 10% chance of rain. Everything is a go. I went with a tech shirt, with my running jacket, winter pants. I figured I would take the jacket off and wrap it around my waist if I got to hot. Kelly was in a light jacket, cold weather shirt and shorts.
James met up with us in our room, and we rode with him to the race. We found great parking (which was what James and Kelly were worried about, as someone who never drives in those situations, I assumed they had it handled)! As we were walking to the starting area, we saw lightning! WTH?! It started raining! They delayed tthe start from 0630 to 0700! We found a place to wait out of the rain.
James was starting in (B) corral, and Kelly and I were starting in (C) corral. There were so many people in this race! According to Online race results.

It was a rainy cold run. My fingers were going numb, but besides that we were doing pretty well.
I saw several men running to a tree or a bush or a side of a building to pee. I have seen that before, kinda gross, but okay, the lines were long to the porta potties. I did see one thing that shocked me! A woman ran over to a pine tree, not hidden by any means, pulled her shorts to the side and peed standing up! I was so shocked! I have never, ever seen that before!!
We made it to the finish line cheered on by Whitley, Cody, Jared, Walker and Hunter. They had made us signs to cheer us on!!!!
James brought us things to help warm us up! A pair of gloves for Kelly and some hand warmers and a dry rag for me. Life savers for sure. We got out of there pretty quick. After all, we had Thunder tickets!!!!!
